What have therapists been working on with kids?
The therapists continue to work toward the childs therapeutic goals that were outlined after their evaluaiton . These may include self regulation, learning concepts such as whole body listening, the Zone of Regulation or Social thinking concepts. We work on fine and gross motor development, visual motor work and sensory processing.
Do parents need to be present during sessions?
Most parents do not need to be present once the child is set up to work with Zoom on either the laptop or IPAD
How long do the sessions last?
The sessions are dependent on the child but are typically anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Are these sessions reimbursed by insurance?
Yes, tele-health delivered live is covered by insurance as included in the recent legislation passed by congress. In addition they are now covering OT with those with high deductibles so what once wasn’t covered will now be covered.
Do you offer anything else beside live Tele-Health OT sessions?
Yes, we also offer parent consultation either via a phone call or a zoom session. During this session we can discuss home programming and support parents and their children in the best way possible.
What platform are you using for therapy?
We are currently working with the paid version of the platform ZOOM, which is HIPAA compliant. This can be done best on either a laptop or an IPad.
Are we taking new clients?
Yes we can work with children and begin the process of an evaluation or if they have an evaluation from another clinic we are happy to accept those.
Can OT help with homework coming from teachers?
Occupational therapist worked on a skill called Executive Functioning. This is helping with the break down of tasks into manageable sections for students to complete. Therefore we can help with the organization of their day, their work, or even assignments given to them by their teachers.
What do I need to do OT virtually?
Virtual Tele Health OT can take place on a laptop, desk top, IPad or other tablet. It doesn’t work as well on a phone but can be accomplished. You need to download the Zoom app and have an internet connection.
